My name is Meghan Hutch and I am a Preceptor of Data Science at the University of Chicago’s Data Science Institute.
My role as a Preceptor entails teaching undergraduate data science classes at both the University of Chicago and the City Colleges of Chicago.
I did my doctoral training at Northwestern University where I studied biomedical informatics as part of the Driskill Graduate Program of Life Sciences. My research focused on applying data science methods to develop clinical risk models for patients with diverse neurological illnesses. Now, as a Preceptor, I continue to work on health focused research projects through the lab of Dr. Alexander Pearson.
I am extremely passionate about mentoring and teaching! I am always happy to meet with students who are new to coding, interested in pursuing higher education, or who just want to talk science and/or collaborate!
When I’m not running code, I can usually be found running miles along Chicago’s beautiful lake shore trails. I also love to paint, read, and explore Chicago and the surrounding Midwest region with friends.
